Chicks lost voice and do not eat :(

Their actions and vocalizations appear to be normal. Has it been excessively hot where you are located ? This would explain a decrease in activity and feed consumption.

Thanks for your reply.:) Everyone is so nice. Good news that they sound normal. Maybe I got used to their high pitch chick sound too much. We are in Seattle and it is around 80 outside.

We bought them from a feed store for 6$ each. Thanks for helping us to understand our babies' breed. We are new to chickens and love them regardless of their breed. :)

I was by no means dissing on EE I love them one of my very favorite birds ever. Probably my favorite actually is an EE hen named Pebbles.

She's in my porch right now being treated for a slow crop.

I will say 6$ seems high for EE but that depends on where you are too.

Also did the temperature change by you quickly? That's usually the only time my birds have any trouble with heat if it's very quick and or if they have no shade.

Thanks for replying! We are in Seattle, the weather is about 80 outside with a lot of sunshine. If this is already too hot for them, I am wondering how we are gonna spend the summer. :p Good news that they seem normal! :)
Those plastic shoe boxes available at dollar stores, the kind with the lids, make excellent block-ice containers. I'd recommend picking up two of them so that one can be freezing while you're using the other. Drop a block of ice in their waterer during the heat of the day (if it gets warm enough that you're worried about them). Some folks freeze little dices of fruit and veggies in it to add fun to it, if you do that too, I'd suggest putting the block of ice in a heavy dish, like pyrex instead of in the waterer.

Haha, Pebbles is a lucky chicken!

I did not monitor the temperature. Perhaps it is the sudden change of weather in Seattle. It is getting very hot these days :)

Thanks so much! I will try it! :)

Thanks I hope she thinks so.

She's one of our oldest birds(4-5) and one of our only originals left. She's one we dubbed as one of our "lifers". That is she will live out her natural life here on our farm until she passes away naturally unless she were to be suffering then we would end her suffering.

Shes not happy being locked up in the porch but today she actually talked to me for the first time in 4-5 days. She has also slowly shown interest in a mix I make up I use for sick chickens and ate it every well today. Her crop also wasn't full of fluid this morning.

I just hope she gets better soon so she can go be with the flock. I know she's happier out there.
