Hello. This all started yesterday morning with my 6-week-old red sex link. She seemed tired and sleeping for the morning, would wake up if startled, but would get up and walk around, eat, drink, but would keep her left eye shut for the most part. She could open it, and would, but she seemed to prefer to keep it closed. Her right eye would remain open. I examined her eye and no pus or discharge, no blood or evidence that she was pecked. She stayed this way all day. Seemed fine other than her eye. This morning, two of my silkies are doing the same thing! Keeping one eye shut. Can and will open they eye, but prefer to have it closed. My buff silkie (8 weeks old) seems sleepy but my black silkie (10 weeks old) seems to be okay other than the eye. The red sex link still is preferring to keep the left eye closed. There seems to be some sneezing, if I can call it that, going on in the flock by all the chicks, not just the ones that are closing the one eye. I've Googled and Googled and haven't found anything that really fits these circumstances. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I think I would get some Tylan or Duramycin 10 at the feed store today and start them on it. Tylan injectable can be given by mouth or as a shot. There is a powder form also that goes in the water. If your chickens won't drink very well because they are too sick, they won't drink enough medicated water for treatment, so you may be better off to give the Tylan50--1/8 to 1/4 ml. by mouth(5-7 days) or as a shot (for 3 days)daily. http://www.durvet.com/dl/Durvet-Poultry-Brochure.pdf

Oops, I have edited the above post. Tylan50m dosage for a chick or small chicken should be 1/8-1/4 ml instead of 1/2. 1/2 ml would be the dose for a full size chicken.
