Good plan. Hope you're enlarging the run as well. It will not be much more difficult building an 8 x 8 than it would be to build the 4 x 8. You'll be much happier with it. Be sure he puts in LOTS of ventilation which is above the level the girls will be on the roosts. Also, hardware cloth (1/2") instead of chicken wire will make the coop much more predator proof.
