ok so my chicks are a month old and been in their brooder with out heat for about a week. They have been in their run/coop during the day with 60-70 degree weather. I have been taking them in at night. It’s been getting to the high 30s low 40s at night. Can they stay out with a heat source or do I need to bring them in still?

I think you've done a great job weaning your chicks off heat. Were you using a lamp or heating pad? If the latter, you could move them into the coop with the heating pad on low for the first couple nights.

If a lamp has been the heat source, you might try a lower wattage bulb for a couple nights, then wean them off light at night with a dim night light. Chicks usually raise a fuss their first night in the dark.
