I moved my almost 4 week old mostly feathered chicks outside today-I planned for them just to be out for a little bit, but their pen is built so that I can't get ahold of them until they go inside the coop. I put a heat lamp in there and a couple of chicks climbed the ramp to get to it. All of them are huddled now outside in a corner and a few are peeping loudly(assume they are cold). Will they go up to the light, or am I going to have to tear the whole run apart to fetch them?!

How cold is it going to get? If your lows are in the 50s, I wouldn't worry about it. If your talking lows in the 30s, you might need to go get them.

Yeah 65 day and 45 night-I hope I can get them in before tonight!

My 6 week old BRs are out in the barn. I kicked them out of the brooder at 2 weeks and they have been fine.

The barn is open to the outside.

Good to know thanks-a few of them have gone up to the light-maybe when it gets darker they will go toward it
