Chicks outside??

Chicks have been moved to the outside coop. They just did not want to stay in the pen I had them in on the porch. They found every way they could to get out. So I am taking their lead and moved them outside today. At first the were scared and made it known they did not like being moved but they settled in by nightfall and seemed just fine. They have much more room and since they are growing like weeds I am sure they will like having the extra space for the next 6 weeks until they get moved to the big hen house.

I know. I they are fine. I think I took it harder than they did. I worry about them being cold, my freind keeps telling me that ..."if Chickens were that Fragile none of us would know what eggs taste like, they would have died off centuries ago" Still .....I worry.

i could see the happiness on my chickens face when they were moved out to bigger area..it made me happy as well and relieved they had more room to move around.trust me they will adapt and be fine.. i was also hesitant moving them out..

My chicks will be 7 weeks old on Wednesday and I let them out a couple of days ago. A couple of my other chickens gave them a hard time and they stayed in their coop for 2 days more and I let them out again today. It really hurts me to see them get picked on. Chickens are so mean. Not only are the laying hens bothering them but my other chicks that are 13 weeks old are being mean too. I hope they adjust to this. I think about getting rid of some the mean ones but I imagine another will take their place. I guess I just have to look the other way.

none of my chicks have been mean to each other so far..i have them out a lot free range dont know if this has something to do with it..i have sussex and bjgs really liking them both more sussex though shhhh dont tell them lol..

I agree that the chicks like it when they get out of their confinement. Mine acted like little nuts when they got out. It was real funny. They are not so happy with their new roomies though! On another note one of my 13 week old chicks got her big girl voice today. I was real excited. She was making funny noises yesterday, kind of a hoarse bark and today real chicken talk. Hen talk, thank goodness!

what does cockerel talk sound like? My cockerel doesn't talk to me like my old cockerel did.

Mine too. I try to get them excited about seeing me, but they only react when I have treats and they certainly do not allow me to pick them up. Sad Face.......
