I have 13 chicks about one week old

9 - Black Australorps

4 - Buff Orpingtons

I've noticed the BA sometimes peck each others beaks . . . . any idea why ?

It doesn't seem to be a problem . . . just wondering.

I've noticed that too. Doesn't seem to be aggressive posturing. I'm wondering if the beak pecking is some sort of submissive greeting gesture. Instead of kissing toes the chickens are kissing beak!

I heard its just joking around - not sure babys know what joking around means though

If anyone still has an egg tooth, the other chicks will try to help them get it off. Birds also tend to learn to eat from other birds, so could be that they see wetness from a recent drink or a crumb of food that they need to get. Hope all is going well with the babies.
