I have 2 Jersey giant chicks that I hatched myself and are 2 weeks old. I bought 4 pullets from tractor supply today, 2 are Marans and 2 are Wyandottes that look to be around a week old. The Jersey's and Marans get along fine but as soon as I put the Dottes in they both start pecking the Jersey's and Maran's feet to the point where one of the Marans had a bloody toe. I'm fine with separating them I just want to know why are they doing that? The 2 Dotts aren't pecking each other they only peck the others.

Photos of your brooder? Does it have ample space plus stuff for them to interact with? Baby chicks that are bored can get to causing trouble same as adults.
They scratch at the shavings alot so they always have something to do and they have plenty of space. they have cloths to cuddle what else can I put to make them less bored?

Also if your temperatures are chick friendly (like 70F+) and you have somewhere secure they can go, they'd probably appreciate some outside time at this point. Not too long because of the littlest ones, but an hour or two (with grit provided) would definitely keep them busy.
