It has been absolutely gorgeous here this weekend so we let our 5 week old chicks out in the run. I just wanted to share a few pictures of their time outside.

We opened the door and they hesitated for a good long time....

The first brave soul to make her way down the ladder into the run

She got first dips on the mealworms that I brought out to bribe the chicks... she was a happy chick to have them all to herself for a little bit

Of the 26 chicks we have, only 5 brave souls made it out for the first couple hours.

I brought a chair in the run so I could sit more comfortably since it seems I'll be spending many hours just watching them play... This is me holding "Cake" (my 4 year old named her) She's our special girl!!!

This is my son with Cake on the day he named her...

Wow! Those pics were great! Those little chicks look like they've got a fantastic chicken run and coop! Lucky birds for sure. Thanks for sharing.

Love it! Did they all eventually come out?

I had to laugh when you said your son named one chick Cake. That's totally what my son would do too...he's so food orientated...especially when it comes to sweets!

Enjoy them!!!! It's been raining here all day...

How cute!!
My kids and I loved the pictures of them peeking out and you can see they are nervous! Very very cute pictures.
Thanks so much for sharing. I can't wait for our little guys to go outside. (We are waiting for the coop to be built - a few weeks to go).

I never saw all of them out there at the same time but I do think they all made it out... getting them back in the coop has been the issue

They look so happy and cute! Lovely coop and run, too. Something tells me once they all get their feathery butts out there, they're going to be in heaven!

Awesome pics! At least your son named the chicken something people can pronounce...LOL. My 14 year old daughter is fascinated with Japanese culture so our 3 girls all received Japanese names. Hana (pronounced like sauna but with an "h"), Yuki (pronounced you-key), and Miku (pronounced me-koo). They are actually very cute names and seem to fit the girls well, but everyone else seems to think we're a little odd.

I opened the pop door for them this morning and they all came diving out the hole like the coop was on fire!!!! I think they like the run! Now, if only it didn't take 45 minutes to get them back in the coop at night

Any tricks to help them back in???

mine haven't been allowed out yet (fencing is underway) but I have conditioned mine to react to a stainless steel scoop which has treats in it in the evenings... they lunge at it!
