I got an email from Ideal saying mine shipped today! I was thinking tomorrow but maybe they hatched a day early? Does that happen? lol

I've had Ideal ship a day early before. Its apparently super hot down there so their incubators may not have regulated as well as they normally do. Hence the chicks hatched a day early!

Im somewhat worried about the heat but I felt that in order for them to be montana winter ready, I needed to get them now. *fingers crossed*!

We got our chicks today!! 3 Easter Eggers, 2 partridge Silkies, 2 Sebrights (1 silver laced and 1 golden laced), and 1 Barred Rock. I feel I'm getting addicted...but I think this is it for quite awhile. Chicks are so much fun!

I got my babies yesterday afternoon! I ordered 7 from MPC and received 8 VERY thirsty little girls. My lone black australorp chick was looking pretty lethargic and I figured out that the extra was another australorp, so maybe they didn't expect her to survive. Everyone is happy and healthy now and totally zonked out.

Last time I got 7 BR, who were adorable but didn't come with the mystery of figuring out who was what... how fun! This time around there are 2 partridge rocks (GORGEOUS chicks!), 2 columbian wyandottes, 2(!!) black australorps, 1 easter egger and 1 ancona.

Side note: Are EEs known for attitude? Because mine was pretty b*chy upon arrival and is still trying to eat the toes off the rest of the chicks. I'm not liking her too much for causing so much trouble already, but I ordered her because my mom wanted a blue egg layer so I suppose she'll stay around... would make a pretty measly snack at this point, anyway
