What do I do that the only box I have righ5 nos

Can you raise the heat source? What is the temperature?

I was aware plastic held heat in! Dangerous.

It would be alright if it had a bird cage top or something, but all the way around there's nowhere for air flow to get in. I've seen rats get cooked like this in my old garage during summer.

They really need to get out of that bucket. I know you're trying to make it work, but it's not a safe brooder. The heat lamp alone is going to cook them. Plastic does not allow heat to escape.

This when you need to "think outside the box" Get creative real fast. That has to be really really hot inside that can. You really need to look around at what you have and figure out something you can keep them in to regulate the heat.

Use a large laundry basket lined with newspaper.

You need to put them in the bathtub so they can get away from the heat lamp. They need the heat lamp but they also need to be able to get away from it. Please make them a makeshift bathtub brooder!

Well, you may at least need to turn if off for a little while anyway until you can figure something out or you are going to cook them. But, you need to figure it out so you can use the heat source too.

Put them in your bathtub. Or even on the floor. Let the air circulate around them . Get them water and out of the bucket. I think that's why they say to have your brooder set up before you get chicks. Did you move them yet?

Remove it temporarily so that the box cools off some.

Do you have a laundry basket? If you do move them into it.
