It would be alright if it had a bird cage top or something, but all the way around there's nowhere for air flow to get in. I've seen rats get cooked like this in my old garage during summer.I was aware plastic held heat in! Dangerous.

Do I remove the heat lamp?They really need to get out of that bucket. I know you're trying to make it work, but it's not a safe brooder. The heat lamp alone is going to cook them. Plastic does not allow heat to escape.

Use a large laundry basket lined with newspaper.This when you need to "think outside the box" Get creative real fast. That has to be really really hot inside that can. You really need to look around at what you have and figure out something you can keep them in to regulate the heat.
You need to put them in the bathtub so they can get away from the heat lamp. They need the heat lamp but they also need to be able to get away from it. Please make them a makeshift bathtub brooder!Do I remove the heat lamp?
