Chicks taking dust baths?

The first time my babies went outside, it looked like they were melting from the gloriousness of the warm sun. It was hilarious, like they were playing a game of 'the floor is lava' 🤣 i had them in a brooder box inside and would let them out to free range inside my living room for about an hour a day and the silly things would try to dust bath on the door mat in the sun, it was cute and funny. I'll post a picture (you may note that the mat is rather sand filled 😆) Other times, some of them would try to dust bath on my jumper 😂 After a few weeks, I would take them outside to a covered pen so they could get used to the outside atmosphere of our neighbourhood under full supervision.

Really? I’ve got a really skittish hen. How could I help her get used to me touching her?
What does your brooder look like? I used a big box and cut a trap door in the side. When I would reach in the top they would get scared (maybe it’s instinct because of Ariel predators), but when I opened the trap door and had wet mash they would run each other over to jump onto my lap and eat out of my hands. I’d put a barrier around the area I was sitting and they would hang out a bit and eventually all head back into the brooder. Those were the days…❤️
