Chicks vent pecking aftermath questions (first time mom)

That happened with one of my chicks once. The baby turkeys had been picking on her vent and it was so bad to where the whole things vent was red and blood-clotty. I had put peroxide on it to clean it, but then was getting serious pastybutt because it's deformed vent and scabs. So I put olive oil on it every time I noticed and now she is almost a month old doing great.
One of ours got the whole bottom part of its vent pecked off. I had to clean it up a bit for awhile but now she's doing great and getting her feathers back! They are alot more resilient than we give them credit for. Lol

Thanks! I gave them a little of the grit I had and tried to pick out the bigger pieces. But now I’m worried that maybe even the small pieces could be too big. I’m so nervous about everything I’m doing for them! We just had a butt checking session and all of them needing cleaned up to varying degrees. I don’t think it’s true pasty butt, at least not for all of them, but it sure seems like we won’t be participating in fluffy butt Friday this week. I’m starting to wonder if they’ll ever look fluffy back there again!
They will pick out the pieces they can eat😊 I was afraid of the same thing with our bantam chicks because they are tiny, but they figure it out!

You are doing fine, don’t beat yourself up. We all go through this with our first chickies! There is a ton of info on this site for chick care. You can never learn or read enough :)
Yeah I was planning to do some work tonight but keep reading post after post! I made the mistake though of reading a bunch of the sick/emergency ones which did not help me feel like this will one day be happy and relaxing. 😢 Thank you so much for your comments and help today.

Poor thing! But that’s so good to hear that she got better! I need to just take a deep breath and keep cleaning them, and hopefully they’ll do ok. 🤞

Oh my gosh poor thing!! What a strong girl to pull through! I just wish I had a better sense of if I’m cleaning them correctly since what fluff is there doesn’t return to actually being fluffy when it dries. Also Idk if I should be trying to push the vent back in, or if it’s not actually prolapsed and is just swollen and not surrounded by fluff!

As long as there isn't any poop left on their bottoms your doing a fine job! I don't know anything about prolapses though🤷‍♀️
