Chicks with runny poop

Thank you for the link to the poop chart. I guess I'm not surprised one exists, but I never would have thought to look for it. The pics were very helpful. Being a newbie with chickens I have been worried a few times about the color/consistency of their poop. It was reassuring to see photos of the range for normal. Thanks again,!
I don't trust that chart. That chart says this is normal:

The feedstore I go to had six with poop like this, three of them died, so I asked for their bodies and sent them to UC Davis for necropsies and the necropsy report stated they all three died from severe coccidiosis, so clearly this was not normal. Can you post a picture of their poop?

Hi Kathy,
Good to know! Thanks for the additional info about the poop chart. Of course, I didn't find any of the watery dark stool today, which I guess is a good thing. If it happens again i'll post it . It didn't look anything like the one you posted.
Thanks again,
Jennifer

This thread is old but hopefully someone can you tell me if this type of poo is normal for a 4 week old chick? I live in south Florida and it's been terribly hot so the chicks are drinking lots of water:

Is the chick acting 100% normal? Is it gaining weight daily? How many poops per day look like that?

The chick is actually the biggest in my little flock. Eats and drinks regularly and acting totally fine. I've seen the poo that way before, but I'm not sure how often. I work so I spend the morning and evenings with them and noticed the wet stuff this weekend when cleaning the coop.

I'm so glad I read this ~ I was starting to stress about one of my chicks ~ she's 8 days old, one of 7 and she acts antisocial, very quiet, and has runny poop but she's eating, drinking and growing. I just hope she's ok. We live in the city and there are no vets that know poultry plus I don't want to jump the gun and go running to the vet if it's "normal"

I think the best thing to do is keep an eye on it. The one chick I had a doubt with is totally fine. I watch them every chance I get now and I'm sure it was just the cecal poop, there were no other behavioral or physical signs of illness. I still see the cecal poop now and then but all of my chicks are all eliminating normally.

Here's a thread on anti-social chicks: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/871256/anti-social-chick

What your experiencing could be normal but if she shows any other signs that concern you, you may also want to take some photos of her and post some details here for advice:
