Chicks with runny poop

When and how often do chickensshed their intestinal lining? How often should I see a little blood in their poop?
How old is the chicken? When I see it in and mature bird I worm that bird with Safeguard for goats or Safeguard for horses. The dose I have been using lately is .5ml per 2.2 pounds for 5 days (50mg/kg). Paste or liquid, it's the same dose.

If I see it in a chick I start that chick on Corid at 2 teaspoons liquid per gallon or 1.5 teaspoons powder per gallon. Medication is made freash daily and given for 5-7 days

Thanks Kathy, mine are all about 3 months old. Are they not supposed to shed the lining? All the posts I've read make it seem normal but it is a warning about worms?

Hi all! I have a roo thats limping very badly. He started limping yesterday, but this morning he is even worse. He doesnt even like to have his foot touch the ground. He drinks, not eating his reg food. All he does is lay around, and his poop is a greenish watery color. Will his limping heal or does he have something else? Thanks

Hello,

If it's a sort of diahrrea looking, dark brown or butterscotch colored, stinky, sticky poo, then that is totally normal. It's called cecal droppings. All chicks and chickens will have that, and I've noticed with my chicks, when they get excited, they poo that runny stuff quite often.

Nothing to worry about! smile

Just kinda gross and stinky!

Thank you we were wondering about that very thing, ours are about 3 weeks old saw some runny peanut butter poo. We thought hummm! Thats different.

picked up three Wyandotte chicks this morning at a chicken swap, they are about three weeks old. They haven't been on medicated feed but I just started them on it when we got home. They all seem to be acting normal from what I can see (this is my first time having chicks). One of them just passed a stool that looks like this and I'm wondering if I should be worried.
