Chicks with Runny Stools

Let me give you a tip. From everything I've read on here over the years, the medicated feed isn't always a good preventative for coccidia....I've seen several posts where the chicks get it anyway.

If you are going to use the ACV, please make sure it is the unpasteurized vinegar with the cultures(the mother)intact or it won't do much for your chick's bowel cultures at all. It will act like an electrolyte replacement and will help them in that aspect but it won't reculture their bowels or guard against coccidia.

And, yes, you can use the ACV and the electrolytes in their water at the same time...won't hurt a thing.

where do you find unpasteurized ACV? I didn't know they made that. I started using the stuff i had in the pantry and i know that its just the reg stuff

Bragg's is the most known brand of mother vinegar. I'd just do a search online at stores in your area that carry it. Sometimes small stores will order in something for you....I know folks who have talked to Walmart about getting soap making supplies in and they did it for them. Now I see these supplies in my own local Walmart and they weren't there before.

If you have a health food store in your area, they most likely will have it. The thing is, you can buy one gal. of this stuff and then split it off into a jug of the regular ACV to make more of the same...and keep doing that anytime you want more of the ACV with the probios in it.

Now I am worried. I'm seeing poops that are dark brown and comepletely liquid and they are showing up often.

Does this mean that they have something? I haven't tried vinegar yet, nor electrolytes. Should I try those or should we try medication?

Again, thanks so much, everyone!

Great! Thank you! That helps... It looks like it's nothing to worry about. I just like to fuss over my babies! LOL

Thanks!
