Go ahead and kick them out. Keep them in the coop and run only until they're mostly mature before letting them roam the yard (if you plan on doing that).
I'd check on them every night to make sure they are going into the coop to sleep. It's common for chicks to huddle in a corner of the run and sleep, so you might need to put them to bed a few nights in a row until they learn where to go.
