So I'm compiling my "gotta have" list now. All you experts out there tell me if I'm missing anything!

- Brooder (Got it!)
- 2 heat lamps prepped with 100 watt bulbs (Got them!)
- Test the brooder and lamp temparature
- 1 throwaway thermometer to put in with them
- chick starter (Medicated? Non-medicated? Need to decide on that)
- chick-sized feeder
- rabbit bottles and water bowl with rocks in (I want to see if they'll train to the bottle; bowl is backup)
- wood pellets
- chick grit
- paper towels (got those by the ton)
- lots and lots of patience (don't got it and don't know where to obtain it

)

Sounds like you are ready to go.....
On your chick starter I always do medicated just so I know they are protected.
How many chicks???
Where did you get them Hatchery????
Red bulb???? Helps with pecking each other
and if you can i would get those waters that are red. Its hard for new chicks to drink from those rabbit waters and a bowl will get really messy and you will be filling it all the time. Whats nice about the little red ones is it stayes filled for awhile they can dip there little beaks in no problem and you wont worry about them drowning in the bowl.

Well, if all turns out wells, I'll be getting 7, and they're coming from Welp (if you're wondering about the low number, I went in on them with someone else). I'm not 100% sure what she ended up ordering, but I requested 2 mottled Javas, two Silver laced Wyandottes, and 3 Welsummers (2 hens, 1 roo)

When it's all said and done I will probably buy the chick waterer XD I'm hoping that since there will be relatively few of them they won't feel crowded and peck, but I do have a 75 watt red bulb hanging about that I will toss in the mix if I need to. Got to think of some toys to keep them busy, too.

I would also get:
poly-vi-sol without iron incase of sick chick
electrolytes & vitamins for water (I use this instead of sugar water)
Olive oil for pasty butts (if you end up having any)

I use the 75w red bulb and it works fine.

last but not least...your camera-you'll be taking a lot of pictures!
