I really don't see the point of arguing over a difference of opinion.
Being as you asked, no, I do not health test. I choose not to breed dogs that are not 4 years or older an I cull any dog that has any health problem worse than a cold from my breeding program. Sometimes there offspring if it is a genetic something. I also dont breed a dog more than once a year an never to a related male. Those restraints have me at a point now that I am not producing any pups at this time even tho I get constant phone calls asking about them. I do have future litters planned if everyone is still healthy at that point.
My dogs get to go to the river, to the park, to ball games. Anything I do they do. But they do not compete.
If you don't agree with my breeding plan, that's fine we don't have to agree.
As for how I use the term puppy mill, to me it means anyone with 30+ breeding females of more than one breed stuffed in kennels an never loved. They are everywhere, not just where the latest documentary was filmed.
Do I think puppy mill owners are bad people? No, I think they are farmers putting food on there family's table the best way they know how. Because I chose a different road does not make there road wrong, just different. I think burning coal is bad for the earth but I dont hate on coal miners for feeding his family. Same with dogs. I dont like the look of a deer head chihuahua but see nothing wrong with people that do breeding them an selling them. AKC standards are just that. There standards. Just because they have a standard does not mean the rest of the world is wrong, just different.
