Chiks eating bedding

I am not a fan of the wood shavings. I use second hand place mats and toss them when soiled.

Ok. I picked up grit. Should I give an extra "dose" since I think they were eating the bedding? Also, as long as they have this grit, should they be fine? I'm worried now. Newbie here.

Yes go ahead and sprinkle it over their food like seasoning. I’m assuming you got the chick sized grit?

Believe it or not, my closest farm store had never heard of grit.

Many people and stores confuse grit also with oyster shell. Two different things!
