Child At Heart, Monster By Nature (A Shape Shifting RP)

"Right." Amaryllis corrected herself under her breath, as she silently thought of her brother.
"Amaryllis," Haley started, then stopped, unsure whether to ask a question that had long been on her mind. "You and Aneurin. You seem very close. Yet, all due respect, I see no resemblance. Is Ryker not your father?" She asked in a gentle tone.

Dimitri shook his head in negation. "I'm a blunt instrument. Peeling away layers requires a certain finesse which I do not possess. I'm simply glad to have a mutual agreement to not cause harm to eachother in the night." He said with a wink at the last part.

Andorra played with the spines of a few books on the shelf in front of her as he spoke. She shrugged, "That's me, I know random things of veritable significance." She then stole a glance his way.
"Is this agreement on paper? I never trust things unless they're on paper," Alexis said with humor.

"Well, sometimes it's the little things that are the most important," Zaine said quietly.

(Oh, ok.)
Laurel barely heard when Madison spoke about her being Ryker's toy, but rather contemplated the idea of being his favorite. She secretly thought that that couldn't even be partially true, yet beamed at the thought. She had never be liked by anyone, let alone been a favorite in someone's opinion, not until now. She was beginning to learn she had more friends than she could have ever hoped for.
~
"Shut up!" Aralyn snapped after a moment of restraint.

Madison glanced to the others as they continued to train. She could still feel the soreness in her side and head from her earlier sparring match with Charles. Her pain grounded her and made her feel alive.

"Mon Dieu, my petite. Are you not a fan of the classics? Perhaps if I sing the words, you may appreciate it more, no?" Leverett said with unabashed levity at having evoked such a response from Aralyn.

Dimitri rubbed his stubbed chin in thought, the rasp of his action made more evident by the overall silence in the library. "Commitment and trust issues, I see." He teased back.
~~~
" You'd be among the small few to think that. Most simply think my company is tedious, at best." Andorra stated honestly.
"At least I don't have anger issues," Alexis mumbled, though her smile made it obvious she was just messing with him.
""Then I'm sure most would be wrong," Zaine stated.
"Who?.....oh, you can't mean me?" Dimitri asked as he looked around dramatically. "I think you're confusing me with that Tigger guy. I hear he's a real jerk and likes to pounce on random people. Much to the detriment of future friendships." He said with a chuckle, making a joke of himself.
~~~
Andorra was stunned into stillness. She blinked mutely for a moment, then blushed slightly. "Thank you, Zaine. That's very sweet of you to say." She said almost on a whisper.

"No, oh no, I couldn't possibly mean you," Alexis rolled her eyes.

Zaine shrugged. "Just being honest." He didn't see why his little compliment was such a big deal, but if it made her happy, good.

Amaryllis momentarily hesitated answering the question she hadn't seen approaching, before answering with complete transparency, realizing she had never felt as comfortable sharing the secrets of her past with anyone besides her brother. "Half," she corrected gently. "Same mother, but Aneurin's father is Ryker while mine remains unknown, and will, most likely, never be known."

Haley nodded when she finished. "I don't mean to pry, and if my questions make you uncomfortable, you don't have to answer," she said thoughtfully. "How is it that you were there? At the lab?"

"Oh good! I'm glad we got that all cleared up. I wouldn't want any misunderstandings." Dimitri replied good-naturedly.

Andorra smiled again and moved to go to the other side of the book stack to hide the further deepening of her full fledged blush. " You're very wise, Mr Owl. Just as being around you is a hoot!" She said through the gap in the books.
