Child At Heart, Monster By Nature (A Shape Shifting RP)

Razeth looked to Laurel in concern. "Why didn't you get you medication? That's unlike Ryker to not remember. " He observed aloud.

Derrick picked up on Aralyn's look to Leverett. He smirked to himself as he watched the two. "Yes, I can see that. But just a word of caution, I wouldn't turn my back on that one. She's fairly fuming as it is. You'd do best to request her assistance upon future missions." He said as a parting retort as he headed back to his waiting vehicle.

Leverett snorted at the comment with obvious disdain.

"It wasn't that he forgot." Laurel spoke voice, now soft, was not accusing. "It was said that the cook had been keeping the medications for himself behind Ryker's back." She shivered thinking of the lack of mercy Ryker would have when punishing the man.

Aralyn lifted her chin, glancing sideways towards Leverett in amusment. "Thank you, Derrick." She smiled as they parted, voice becoming suddenly charming in her fatal, signature manner.

"Professor? " Dimitri asked with a chuckle. He shook his head slightly and added, "I've never had fresh concord grapes. I've only had them in jam. I shall have to try them some time. "
"They're pretty darn amazing," Alexis stated. "They taste exactly like Welch's grape juice."

Ryker took a deep breath as the wheels of the Learjet make contact with the tarmac. He always hated flying in a tin can. Perhaps that was why he'd became obsessed with creating winged hybrids. The freedom of flight....he paused in his thoughts as he thought of his son. Or the loss of that gift. He concluded mentally as he remembered amputating Aneurin's wings. He pushed that thought away as he stood up and grabbed his jacket to exit from the plane when it had come to a stop. There was a vehicle awaiting his arrival and was eager to take him to the team that had been shadowing his son's chip signal.

Aneurin moved determinedly across the wooded path, eager to lead Ryker's men as far from the girls as he could before his collapsed in exhuastion. He hadn't seen the men as of yet, but the evidence of their presence was vivid in Anuerin's observation of his surroundings. He hadn't slept since late at night when he awoke to part from the girls, walking until sunrise, and late into the day; the thought that Ryker would soon find giving him the courage needed not heed to his body's warning that should he not rest he might kill himself. Or atleast, that's what his body made him think.

(sure thang XD)

Haley let out a sigh of relief when her knock was recieved, the door swinging inward, opened by a middle aged man dressed head to toe in full hunting outfit, minus a weapon. The confusion on his face was clear as he looked from one girl to the other. "Hello," he said simply after a moment of silence. He had expected the knock to be from a hunting pal he was waiting on.
Haley gave a short wave of her hand in greeting as she said "hello".
The man, seeing that that was all she had to say for herself and her friend at the moment, stepped out of the doorway and planted his feet firmly on the top step. "Are you two lost? In need of directions?" He asked, eager to get the inevitable conversation moving and over with.
"Uh, yes, actually," Haley stammered. "My friend and I, um, yeah, we're lost," she said truthfully, for they were. "If you could point us in the direction of the nearest town, we'd be very grateful."
The man sighed, his irritation obvious. People always seemed to be getting themselves lost in these woods, and then they always managed to find him and his hunting cabin. Many times too often he had to direct imbeciles to town, occasionally even driving them. "Listen here, ladies. I'm not going to repeat myself. Go west," he instructed, pointing a gloved finger towards the setting sun, "and you'll arrive soon enough on the outskirts of town. Simple as that."
Haley smiled, nodded once and backed up. "Thank you, sir," she said gratefully and turned to leave.

Amaryllis watched the man, wide eyes full of fright with the doubt the man could be trusted. "Thank you." She eagerly replied, gently taking Haley's hand in hers as she lead her off the porch. She knew they needed to leave before the man considered their presence a disruption.

Haley stumbled off the porch after her, glancing once over her shoulder when the door closed loudly behind them. When out of sight of the cabin, she slowed and turned to Amaryllis. "That was painless, right?" She said. "Go west. No inquiry as to who we are and what we're doing out here, thankfully."

Amaryllis jumped as the door was slammed behind them, then glanced towards Haley with a nervous smile. "Definitely. The man obviously didn't want to ask questions for fear of prolonging our prescence." She quietly wondered what it was like to freely be able to choose to live separated from people, her life mostly having kept her longing to be freed from the cell that life used to divide her from others.

Haley nodded her head in agreement to Amaryllis' statement. She glanced once more behind them at the darkening woods then turned her eyes to the setting sun. "It's beautiful," she said, breathless in awe of the light and colors. This sunset really wasn't anything spectacular that evening to the normal person, but she wasn't normal and she hadn't seen a sunset in over a decade. The previous night the clouds had been too thick to see this.

Razeth made a soft sound of disapproval in the cook. "I hope he's repaid in kind after Ryker is through with him. May the absence of pain medication be his lasting punishment. " He replied almost with a growl. He looked to Laurel with obvious concern. "Are you still in pain now or has it subsided?"
~~~
Leverett made a sound in his throat and mumbled as he moved to the driver's side to get in. "Mon Petit, smug does not become you."
Or atleast, that's what his body made him think.
Ryker was not pleased to find that Anuerin was still alone. He'd hoped that Anuerin would have at least doubled back at some point and led them to the girls, but no such luck. At least based upon the evidence he was reading. He looked to the lieutenant and sighed softly. "No sign of the females whatsoever? Not even when their chips stopped transmitting?" Ryker listened as Gram explained why that wasn't known. For he'd failed to realize how much of a head start they had, especially with their escape going unnoticed for so long. He sighed with resignation and shook his head, "Then we'll just have to look in the exact opposite direction Anuerin's consistently running. That will allow a marginal chance of success, until we can get the truth out of him. Send out a team on each side of his backtrack. I want no stone uncovered and every house searched. If the occupants are uncooperative, burn the houses down to the ground. I'll have them one way or another. Dead is just as good. I must make an example of them all. Now take me out to where Anuerin is. It's time I confront my traitorous son." He commanded.
Gram barked out orders to facilitate what Ryker had wanted before leading Ryker over to a waiting Humvee. As they both climbed inside and buckled up, Gram ventured to ask, "Are you sure you don't want us to secure him first?" At Ryker's dark look, Gram dropped the issue. "Understood, Sir." He murmured as he started the vehicle and put it in gear to head out.
