Child At Heart, Monster By Nature (A Shape Shifting RP)

Anuerin waited for the fight that was to come; Ryker always had the first move. He thought that he might just have a chance to begin the fight, that was if he could keep him talking, and catch him while he was off guard. Now he had to hope that for once Ryker would be distracted. "Amaryllis is kind, gentle. Haven't you learned that? Through all the pain she never become angry at you, or even defended herself against you. She would never allow herself to be used to hurt someone. It would break her heart." Anuerin challenged.

Ryker nodded silently as Anuerin spoke. At his inquirie he answered coolly, " Yes, I have learned that. But I also learned something else about her. Something I was trying to fix. She's not long for this earth without my care. She was put into that coma for a reason Anuerin, she has a weak heart. As a result of her premature birth. Her out in the world is only going to hasten its decline."

"Perhaps we shouldn't push our luck." Dimitri replied playfully with a fair amount of truth.
"Good point," Alexis agreed, giving him a two-thumbs up. "Now, we're here. Which cook should we try our chances with?" She asked, looking around his shoulder at the two cooks currently on duty.

Amaryllis followed eagerly after her. "What beautiful items!" She exclaimed, eyes twinkling in the dim light as she stood beside Haley.
"Yes," Haley said quietly. "Very beautiful, but useless to our predicament. Surely there's some life around here somewhere," she said with slight exasperation as she looked around the seemingly abandoned town.

Razeth sighed contentedly as the sat in the silent solitude. The cell wasn't a prison any longer in his mind, but a temple to protect them from the madness of the outside world.

"Sorry if the truth hurts, Mon Petit! But it's true and you know it. Ryker only keeps the useful ones!" Leverett called after her as he straightened his shirt collar with slight annoyance.

"I love you." Laurel smiled softly, the statement was a realization for herself of the affections she had for Razeth, more than it was a fact she was informing him of.

Arayln stopped, cringing at his words, but fought the urge to teach him to to keep his mouth shut. Angrily she stomped away.

Aneurin inwardly cringed; this was a fact he had come to accept but not welcome. He reminded himself that there was more hope for her with a hospital with less knowledge than Ryker than to be treated like the lab rat Ryker had made her into.

Dimitri debated between the two cooks for their best option. He nodded to the male and said, "That one there. That way if my negotiations go south, you can get your flirt on and save the day." He then fluttered his eyelashes for emphasis and smacked his lips in a kissing fashion.

Razeth leaned down and kissed the crown of Laurel's head. Her words warming his very person with the monumental reveal. He'd never had this reaction before anyone before. "Laurel, I know not of love. But if a three word statement can encompass the depths of the emotions I feel for you, then I love you too." He confided to her.
~~~
Leverett smiled at Aralyn's cringe. An obvious reaction to his previous statement. He then hurried onto Ericsson's office for debriefing. He hurried with more purpose, especially since he was running late now.
Amaryllis nodded in silence. She wanted to be positive, but with her body quickly decreasing in strength she was beginning to doubt that they would find someone to help them.
(Four, love is a four letter word ;) )
Laurel smiled at him, not with humor that he didn't understand, but pride that despite being from two different worlds he was willing to try to understand new things because of her. "It's a human emotion, Razeth. And nothing Ryker can do to you can take away your capability to love." Laurel explained gently.
Seeing that Anuerin had known the the full ramifications of his actions, it struck a nerve with Ryker. "And yet you still profess that you care so deeply for her. That you would protect you from anyone, even me! Yet you'd have her at the mercy of those bumbling fools and overworked doctors at a civilian emergency room? Anuerin, I'm even more disappointed in you. You're smarter then this. I have my flaws, but at least I'm trying to make a better race. Humans can be so much more. We can't always wait for evolution, sometimes we have to encourage it. And with that it takes sacrifice. Don't be so small-minded, look to the bigger picture, the possibilities. It's the betterment of humankind and we are in the forefront of it all, my son. Let me help your sister live... just tell me where she's at." Ryker replied with heartfelt sincerity.
