Child At Heart, Monster By Nature (A Shape Shifting RP)

"Good," Alexis said, still smiling. She cleared the books at the top, putting them on the floor or elsewhere on the shelf, then starting skimming titles for Zs and Ys.

Dimitri handed a few titles to Alexis that met that criteria. Then went back to looking for more along the wall.

Alexis filled the empty top shelf with the books she was handed, carefully placing them in backwards alphabetical order. "Now this, this I could do all day," she said with a sigh.

Dimitri grinned and searched for the next letters in the sequence of available books. "Yes, it's very soothing, isn't it? " He agreed.

Ryker ended he call and turned to face a waiting Madison. "The teams are closing in on the targets. The sent trail is only a day old. I'm certain we can get Anuerin back to the Island and head out to rendezvous with them before then." He stated as he walked to the plane.

"But Ryker, you need to see to your arm. At lest an x-ray or something. It could be broken. " Madison stated with heartfelt concern.

Ryker stopped and turned back to look at Madison. "Oh, I'm sorry. Are you a doctor? Because the way I remember it, you're not. I'll be fine, it's only a fracture. It can wait a bit longer. Now let's go! We're waiting precious seconds." He said as he hurried up the steps. "Richard, let's go! Back to Lord Laboratories. " He instructed as he settled in his comfortable seat by the window. He glanced back at his son momentarily, before looking out the window.

Madison settled in the seat across from Ryker's. She watched quietly as the pilot finished closing and locking the door into place before going back into the cockpit. When the engines fired up, she looked to Ryker's profile as he looked out the window. He wasn't himself for some reason. What was really going on with this whole situation. She wondered to herself.

Alexis cocked her head sideways to read the next few titles on the shelf. "Yes, strange, but soothing. Books hold a sort of magic, ya know?" she said softly.

"Yes, I understand completely. They're like mini time machines. They can take you anywhere you want and beyond. " Dimitri replied with lighthearted enthusiasm.

Eric understood her reluctance. But after the last time. It was now a requirement that other non-lethal means of containment were implemented. Shots worked slowly and required close contact.  He positioned himself between the two. He didn't want a rookie mistake to ruin Laurel's cooperation. "How's you shoulder doing? " He asked conversationally.

James followed along nervously. He wasn't get his hand tore into like his predecessor. Ryker had had to do major reconstruction of bones and reattach tendons.

Leverett wailed in agony.  He bit down on his anguish and hissed angrily, " You have no conscience! My death means nothing to you. That's why I chose you to do it." He looked away form Aralyn to hide his tears. The tears not from his agony,  but from being denied what he wanted most. " But I've found your one weakness in all this. You're incapable of mercy for anyone but yourself." He replied as he tried to roll away from her.

"Much better." Laurel smiled warmly at him, glad that he cared enough for her to ask.

Aralyn loosened her grip on Leverett's arm, experiencing a twinge of regret for what she'd done, although hurting him was what she intended to do. "Why should I? He didn't care if I was dead, or tormented for as long as I should live as long as he got what he wanted!" Aralyn protested, trying to hide the fact that she regretted hurting him. "You're just like him!" She screamed in despair, not knowing why she was telling this man of a past she never spoke of.
(What does he want most, to die?)
