( No, she would feel no pain. Because they are not eating live tissue they're eating the dead which has no feelings. They still use them in medical practice today. And I made sure to say medical grade, so they are sterile. He numbed her sholder very good, which he usually doesn't do. )
"This pain is in your mind. What you are feeling is not from that wound. I took great precautions to ensure you didn't feel this. I would like to trust you, Laurel. But you haven't earned that right yet. You attacked my aids, who were even guards. I can sedate you again, or you can just let it go and calm down." Ryker explained, while he checked on the progress of the maggots. When he was satisfied with the bright pink flesh, he brushed them away into a small ben to be incinerated. He flushed the wound again and started sewing it closed properly.

"You don't understand." Laurel explained, trying to find the right words to express herself to another person since she had never had an opportunity like this before.
"What it was like when my father. When he, did this to me. It wasn't the first time he had hurt me, but he had hoped that it would be the last time. Since then I have relived that moment over and over. I see my father clearly again in that moment but also experience the pain just as I did in that moment. Before then sleep had been my only escape from my father, but now my unconscious mind is filled with unimaginable nightmares." Laurel paused, shivering even at the thought of them. "Every time I look into the eyes of a man I see my father's eyes in that moment, void of any hesitance about killing his own daughter. And he would have too if he hadn't passed out from his drunkenness. If you think me silly for not trusting you know that that's the reason I don't trust anyone. " Laurel finished, trying to keep her voice from quivering.
