Child At Heart, Monster By Nature (A Shape Shifting RP)

Haley awoke to the pitter patter of a rat across the room. She shot up into a sitting position and pushed the sheet down the her feet, her eyes frantically searching along the crease of the couch for an animal. After a hurried examination, she breathed a sigh of relief when she realized she was the only occupent of the old sofa. Amaryllis was still asleep, as far as she could tell, and she intended to let her sleep as long as possible before they continued their journey.
Wide awake now, Haley stood and crossed the room, going to peer out the small window to look at the sun. A sliver of sunlight could barely be seen, not due to the early time but because of the clouds. Lots of big grey rain clouds. Good. Better for concealing them from Ryker's men, who were surely tracking them by now. She pulled the blind to and went to find something to eat from their bag of provisions.

Amaryllis awoke gently from a dreamless sleep, stirring only at the hushed sounds of Haley moving. Willing herself to open her eyes she sat up, greeting her friend's gaze with a warm smile.

Haley looked up when she sensed movement. "I didn't mean to wake you," she apologized, rising from her kneeling position on the floor. She held an orange out to Amaryllis as she approached. "But since you're awake now, we'd best get moving before the sun is fully up," she explained.

(Ohh I couldn't tell if a day had passed yet. RW, I'll pick them up in one sec ;)
I sorry, but I'd really rather not if I can help it. RW and I just as this dilemma on another RP  . I haven't been in a hospital in years so am rather ignorant in that department :hide )

(Oh, okay. No problem. )

"No, you didn't wake me." Amaryllis explained gently. Lifting herself from the bed she took the offered orange with a smile. "I suppose." She then whispered, smile fading as she was reminded that they would not be able to pay for the room.

Haley closed up the couch and neatly folded the blanket she had used, laying it on the arm of the sofa. "Did you sleep well?" She asked.

(How did I miss this :he )
"Yes," Amaryllis spoke with surprise for herself. Learning from Haley, she went and straightened the covers of the bed she slept in.

"Good," Haley smiled. "I'm glad to hear that. Now, let's get what we've got together and head," she said decidedly. She went to the window and unlatched it, then pushed it up. The space remaining was small, possibly too small to exit through, but they may as well try. She unlocked the bolt on the door but left the chain hooked so that there would be a little delay when rooms were to be cleaned.

Amaryllis finished the apple Haley had given her and threw the core into a trash can tucked in a corner of the room. Looking around the room Amaryllis found nothing that was there's to take, except for the backpack she threw over her shoulder. She looked to Haley for further instructions.

(orange ;) )

"Do you think you can squeeze through here?" Haley asked, peering out the window at the rickety metal staircase that ran past. She backed up to take the backpack from Amaryllis and let her look.
