Child At Heart, Monster By Nature (A Shape Shifting RP)

Ava went to put her school stuff away in her room then headed to the dining room to get a snack to eat. She carried a notebook still, but this one had no schoolwork in it, just doodles.
Zaine shouldered his backpack and made his way to the cafeteria. He wasn't terribly hungry, but he'd been thirsty for almost the entire class and now seemed a good time for getting some water.

Lucy fiddled with her notebook, folding the corner down then flattening it out as she listened to the assignments being read out to the class. When the teacher finally finished, she quickly shut the book and put her belongings in her backpack. "Want to head?" She asked Victor as she neared his desk.

Ava had her snack and drink and had snagged a corner table, away from the main flow to eat and draw, though she did notice when Zaine came in. If he looked to her, she would wave, but she wouldn't draw attention to herself otherwise.

Victor nodded and packed up his stuff, holding the door for her, just to be nice. She had lent him books the whole day, after all.

Zaine grabbed a styrofoam cup from a stack on the counter, flipping it right side up as he headed for the drink machine. He scanned the room as he went, searching for familiar faces in order to avoid certain people. Dimitri wouldn't have been his first, nor his last choice to sit with, but he wasn't even here yet so that was irrelevant. No Willow, Alexis, or Andorra either, for which he was grateful, but with no Andorra Donella likely wouldn't be here either. He caught sight of the girl from English—Ava, is who the picture was signed by—and he made a split second decision to go say hi.

Zoe sighed and hugged him tight before releasing him. "I suppose we go back to our rooms now?"
Elliot nodded. However, he remembered he didn't know where her room was and added "But I don't know how long it will be until I can do this again, so I'll do it now." With that, he stopped embracing her, instead planting a quick kiss on her forehead. He didn't know if Claire was still around, so no passion was needed at the moment. He just tucked her hair back behind her ears, which was always getting in her face, looking into her eyes softly.

"Then talk to me son. Enlighten me, I'm here now." Ryker said quietly.

~~~
Vasper took up a plate and guessed what Haley might like.
(Where did the cafeteria come from, btw? My mansion does not have a cafeteria, it has a dining hall with a adjoining kitchen. WI think a table set up buffet style with the offered foods. FYI.
Who said cafeteria first, so I can kick them in the butt?!
)
Anuerin looked away, before reflecting Ryker's gaze. "When Amaryllis was in a coma I was so lonely. I didn't have friends or anyone to talk to. I was so afraid to be hurt again after what you'd done, I scared away the people who cared for me by being the very person that brought me bitterness." Anuerin let out a shaky breath; the words came easily after years of keeping them locked away, but it took courage to speak them aloud. "The only thing I could remember before Amaryllis fell into a coma was the extreme pain your experimenting brought her. I felt responsible. Protecting her from that point forward became my purpose in life; it was a way to compensate for everything I'd done wrong. When you took her off life support I realized I had failed to protect Amaryllis and beacause of that I'd sacraficed my wings in vain. I had one last chance to make things right, to save Amaryllis from this life, but I failed and in the process she was hurt. Ryker, she could have died, and I can't forgive myself even though she lives. I've lost meaning for life. Even the one thing I love would be better if I wasn't here." He concluded, his dark eyes sincere with the emotional pain he felt.
Amaryllis finished filling the plate with an array of foods and stepped aside to wait for Vasper.
(I just overhead that word being used and got it in my head. Don't blame me XD )
"Thank ya," Lucy said, flashing him a smile as she passed through. She stopped in the hall and turned to face him as he exited the room.
Victor nodded back a You're Welcome, and exited the room, stopping abruptly as she had turned to face him. He looked at her with raised eyebrows, not knowing her intentions.
