Child At Heart, Monster By Nature (A Shape Shifting RP)

Alexis pushed her books to the edge of the bed to the point they nearly toppled off. Rolling onto her back, she went ahead and completed the descent with a small nudge. They fell to the floor with a loud thud, making her wince and regret that action enough to bend over to adjust them so they wouldn't wrinkle. She'd finished her homework and now had nothing to do. Her roommate wasn't in. She wasn't hungry in the least. Dimitri wasn't around to hound and tease. Dimitri. Ugh. She rubbed her eyes, ignoring the pain the pressure on her contacts caused, and flipped onto her stomach. Of all the ridiculous things that could have happened...The words they'd separated with— words she'd spat at him—made her sick to the stomach to think about. Why had she done it? she kept asking herself over and over. She'd pushed him, too far, and it was probably luck nothing worse had happened. And now she was going to suffer for it, alone in her room and missing him.
Ares growled under his breath as went. He listened for following footsteps, but the little vixen wasn't behind. She could have fun with those books, for all he cared. He certainly didn't want them.
Alexis's stomach growled, but she ignored it as she continued to lay there, fuming at herself, Dimitri, and the world. Having beat herself herself up from all angles that brought this upon her, she now resorted to looking from Tiger's side, and what he could have done better. Which really wasn't fair, she knew, but she'd already gone over everything else. A knock sounded at her door and she tilted her head up. Folded her hands under her chin. She contemplated opening it for all of two seconds before hopping up and swinging open the door, eager and ready to spout the multitude of apologies to Dimitri that she had thought up in her time alone. A sour look crossed her face when she realized who it was she had jumped up so readily for.

"So eager," Ares said, chuckling softly. He leaned against the doorframe, glancing from her to the empty room beyond. Noted: empty. She was alone, as he knew she'd be.

Alexis clenched her jaw as she stared at him. "I thought you were someone else," she said stiffly. She would very much have liked to close the door in his face then, but he was here and he obviously had a question.

"Ah, of course. But is it necessary to break that so bluntly to me?" Ares asked, putting his hand to his hurt and feigning hurt. "I was hoping that split second of cheer was for me. Anyway, where's your guard-dog?"

Of all the questions..."He's not here," Alexis said. She wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of a name or the clarification that Dimitri was no dog or guard dog.

"Yeah, I know," Ares said, crossing his arms to get comfortable. "I was just seeing if you knew. If you know. Do you know where he is?"

Alexis ground her teeth, fighting to keep her calm. "No," she said. She swallowed. Lowered her voice. "I don't know where he is."

"No?" Ares raised an eyebrow. "I mean, you did leave class with him, then came back empty handed. Huh. Must have been my imagination." He shrugged, and Alexis would loved to have slap his perfect face right then, but he continued. "Oh well. So you didn't have anything to do with him being left unconscious across a lesser used hallway?"

Alexis eyes went wide for just a moment, before she relaxed. He was just messing with her. He'd seen them leave, and now he was just here to torture her for whatever happened between them. Even as she told herself that, she knew there was something more than that. "That's not funny," she said flatly.

"It wasn't supposed to be," Ares said solemnly. "I guess that wasn't him then, the massive tiger whose weight Casey and I stumbled under as we took it to the nurse's office. Well, you've been a real doll. Thanks for your help. I can eliminate you from our culprit list." He pushed off the wall and stalked off, leaving Alexis angrier than before and extremely confused.

"Alright, your office to drop these off then to the nurse's office to see the patient." Michael said with a nod then shook his head "They are light enough and wheeled, so I wouldn't need any help with them" He said as he followed her.
Emily lead him to her office and opened the door for him to put them in. "Here you go. And now, to the emergency," she said, sweeping her arm out dramatically. She didn't much know what to say to the man. Ioan should be here, welcoming the new Doctor, but they would meet soon enough. "I hope your journey here was easy," she said, searching for something to say as they walked.

Priam breathed a sigh of relief. "Thanks," he said quietly. "For the assurance." He pushed himself up onto the bed opposite Leverett so he could still see the goings on across the room, but talk more comfortably.

"And here I thought frogs were lowly, slimy little creatures better left fried and served on a platter," Allen said in as serious a tone as he could muster.

Haley poked him lightly in the rib to keep moving. "Oh Dyrus, my dear and beloved Dyrus, how about we keep moving before the cameras think we're loitering," she said, trying to not laugh at his antics, much as she loved them.
"No problem. So how's your sister?" Leverett asked to change the topic.

Ashton stood up in a fake huff. "Why I've never.. them be fighting words, Mr. Allen." She said as she made to storm off. But turned around and plopped back on the couch. "Eating frog legs is nasty. " She added make a face.

Dyrus put on a proud expression, relishing every time Haley said him name. " If anyone was loitering, it was you. Don't worry if they arrest you, I'll post bail." He said with humor.

"She's well," Priam said, turning his gaze to focus upon Leverett. Distraction was welcome. "Kept out of trouble for the most part, lately. Her tattoo work keeps her distracted, thankfully." He laughed dryly.

"Yes, i agree. Only had em once, but once was all I needed," Allen said, trying to keep from laughing at her.

Haley moved to his side as they rounded the aisle. "I should hope you would, Moneybags," she teased. "It wouldn't do to leave me in a cell too long unoccupied."

Michael easily slid the cases in the room then looked to her "Ready to go" He said and he was. Whatever this emergency was.

Emily lead him through at a brisk pace, pointing out the few distinctive rooms they passed on the short walk. She knocked at the door to alert those inside to her presence before entering.

Michael followed her, making note of the rooms that were pointed out before they reached the nurses' office. He nodded to the boy hanging around outside then followed Emily inside. "Hello"

The movement startled Ioan, but he was immediately thankful that Dimitri was in his human form. "It's me, Ioan. I need you to wake up." He cooed, ignoring the hit and continuing to keep his forehead cool.

Dimitri simply continued to mutter in his continued delirium.

Emily moved over to the wall where Anne stood, arms crossed as she observed what was happening. "Anne, this is the new doctor, Michael Young. Doctor, our nurse, Anne," Emily introduced them quickly. "How is he faring?" She said, the silent question of and why aren't you helping? lingering in her tone.

Anne nodded in acknowledgment of the doctor. She was a little too stressed to be formal right now. "He's got a high fever, thus the ice Ioan's got. I cleaned the wound and gave him some antibiotics when he was still a tiger. He woke briefly, just long 'nough to shift." As she explained, Emily took a step back so the nurse was saying this more to Michael. He needed to know what was going on, after all. "Not sure what bit 'im exactly; some kind of cat by the looks of the mark. Casey stayed with me, just in case he lashed out as a tiger." The nurse shuddered.

Michael took in what she said as he went over to wash his hands and get some gloves on. He went over to Ioan to check Dimitri's vitals and see if he could tell what had happened to him and what he had.

William had been walking with her towards his room to grab what he needed when he noticed she had gone quiet, or more quiet. He also felt a sadness in her, her whole demeanor changed. As her friend he was worried, he had worked so hard to bring her out of her shell, and now she was retreating again. "Hey were here, welcome to the wonderful mess that is my room." He said as he unlocked the door and held it open for her. He hoped the change in location would bring her out of herself again.
Leah smiled weakly, as she entered the room. She had to do something. But her heart was locked up, and she didn’t know where the key was anymore.
