Ryker tossed down his phone on his desk and let out a deep breath. He rested his chin his hand and stared into the room beyond the glow of his desk light. How long, he didn't know. It was a knock on the door that woke him from his brooding. "Come in." He said with authority as he turned his attention to the door to see who it was.Amaryllis unplugged the drain and waited for the water to empty before stepping out of the tub. She took a fresh towel hanging overhead on a rack to dry herself witb. She dressed and checked her appearance in the floor length mirror. The feeling she entered the room with was conquered by a new strength as she walked into the hall. Amaryllis found herself at Ryker's office. She knocked, feeling more courageous than usual knowing she wouldn't be content until she finished talking to Ryker like she'd come to do.
