I would jump on that if I found a breeder around here! Those are SO beautiful! I think my GLW is very pretty, prettier than the silvers.

I know I'm still amazed! I was just randomly searching for breeders and when I stumbled across her I couldn't believe my luck! Also if there is anyone in Virginia intrested in any of these awesome breeds feel free to send me a message and I can give you her contact info!

At swaps and auctions the buyer must truly BEWARE, some sellers will offer males as pullets or hens. Others will offer mixed breeds as rare ones, sick chickens, etc. etc. Not all sellers do but, enough that we get frequent posts from new members who were badly "taken." You find a lot of "here today, gone tomorrow "vendors and have no recourse against them. I would much prefer brick and mortar breeders/sellers, who have been in the same location for years .

Regardless of source, PLEASE do quarantine new birds from any existing flock for a good month - to be certain they aren't carrying disease, parasites etc.

I have wanted Chickens for a very long time and have been lobying for them at my house since I was little.
Now that I've gotten farther in my life journey, gotten into college, and matured the time has finally come to start my first flock! When I was younger my mother was a kindergarten teacher and every year we would hatch chicks from eggs and raise them to about 4 weeks old before returning them to the farm, so luckily I already know most of the basics when it comes to starting with chicks. There is an old tree fort on our property that we plan on converting into the chicken coop, it's a very good size and should be able to easily accommodate the around six hen flock we are aiming twoards. We plan on building our coop and getting everything set up before we start getting any chickens. As far as the chickens we want, we have decided to keep an entirely Heritage flock, with a strong emphasis with the breeds in critical or threatened status, cause honestly those breeds need lots of help and they are also some of my favorite breeds!I a precise any advice as I go on with this, and thanks for taking the time to read!

Alright
