Children trespassing

Put up biohazard signs and a health department looking notice:
This Property Under Quarantine for Infectious Bovine Hepatocisitis"

Seriously, I'm sorry you have to deal with that. My goal in raising my boys is that we don't become a family people dread seeing.

You might also hire a teenager to sit out the first few games and shoo kids away. It would be cheaper than a fence.

Or put out a motion-sensor sprinkler like they use for deer.

I agree with you completely - why SHOULD you have to pay for fencing. I live in a neighborhood where we all have at least 2 acres and very few have fencing. Yeah, I have to deal with the occasional dog that wonders in, but my chicks will be in a protected run. However, if I were in your situation, I would definitely talk to the ballpark people and have announcements made EVERY TIME there is a game. You're not being witchy - you're being protective and that's a good thing!

Ooooo... I'm digging the idea of the motion sensor sprinkler. That would be fun! Of course, all the kids might come over to play in the sprinkler...

The problem with fencing (other than outrageous cost) is just plain aesthetics. I have a picket fence around the front garden and wire fencing in front of that will look horrible. I spend a lot of time to make my house and yard attractive and I really don't want to kill it because of some rotten parents' ill behaved children.
Maybe I should plant prickly shrubs along the road. Or dig a moat.

I'll talk to the people in charge of the facility. They like me because I help them out with their big Fourth of July party. Perhaps they will have suggestions too.

I guess I'll start researching fence options too. GRRRRRRR!!!!!

I think those sprinklers can be a bit more poweful than the fun ones. Besides, kids dripping wet can teach parents to have greater control.

We had a guy show up with a couple of kids and went though our gate to go fish in our pond and my husband said, sorry we dont allow people to fish. The man got real rude and said: They are just fish buddy. I COULDNT BELIEVE IT! It wasnt about the fish, it was about trespassing, it was about his children possibley drowning and then he in turn files a law suit! The parents are the problem.

You could always run an electric fence

Wouldnt be very expensive and i think that might stop the trespassing.

:-)

actually - are you familiar with pampas grass? its that big plumey stuff? its REALLY scratchy and tough as nails. i was in a landscaping class and they specifically said to use it to keep kids out of stuff.

and i know its hard when you do YOUR part and others dont do theirs.

hang in there!!

No Trespassing signs in a well seen location will ease your liability. Maybe some type of decorative fencing would help them get the point.

There's also the
"Children left unattended will be given espresso and a free puppy"
sign.

He didnt have a chance to sue, we made him leave so he couldnt.
