Chili cooks, a little help please!

It's not the chili powder, unless you're very sensitive. I usually add 1/2 cup to make 2 gallons of mild chili, and add 4 chopped up jalapenos to spice it up a little.
 
Red pepper flakes you only need a pinch, and the cayenne, you really shouldn't use more then 1/4 tsp in a small batch. Over powering heat kills all the other flavors. Suggestion is add a tiny bit to start, taste test... and if its not hot enough, its always easy to add a pinch more here and there. Its impossible to cut back if you over did it.
