Most nights here are 50* or lower even in the summer. I need to buy a new blanket for Phoenix.. should I buy an insulated one? My old blanket was insulated but today at the saddlery someone told me an insulated one is not neccesary. So should it be insulated or no?

No. If you do insulated he will get chills when you ride him plus he can over heat

He has never gotten chills or over heated. And I mean the blanket you put on him on cold nights when he's all tucked in. I have always used insulated blankets for my horses and I have seen good results.
