China walmart....heavy pics

We're doomed for sure.

I was in China for two weeks before Chinese New Year and I saw much of the same things. Not only does the Walmart sell live "food", but the 7-11 did too. We walked past restuarants and I thought they were pet shops. They had tanks and baby pools full of things crawling around. You pick out your dinner before you even get to the front door! The street vendors selling "snack food" was interesting too. Since it was right before CNY, we could look up and on the balconies you would see laundry drying, with heads of pigs and ducks hanging in between the clothing. The street markets are ..umm... unusual... Kitties in cages waiting to go home as dinner.

Thanks Chicken_S, My son is in Thailand right now visiting the in-laws. This will be his first time at seeing how people in that part of the world live and eat. By the way, I will eat what ever is set before me........... Once.

For all of you who are grossed out by the idea of eating frogs, gators, cats and dogs, keep in mind many in the world find the idea of eating pigs, cows, chickens, and sheep equally gross.

I think the ribs in the aisle is photoshopped as is the frog in the pickles, and the horse milk. Yes, people in different countries eat different food than in this country. Get over it.

You can buy antibacterial underwear at REI, you can buy alum stones for deodorant at health food stores, you can find hot and spicy dried beef at any store that sells jerky and you can by cat replacement milk at any Petsmart.

Yep, the meat flavored milk and eating lots of reptiles are a little gross to the American; I can be the Chinese would be equally revolted by any dairy section and all the nasty fermented milk products available here.

I will try lots of things.... Mountain oysters I will not......

Rocky mountain oysters come on over.... there is a bar about an hour from here that sells them.

My aunt ate them and got sick on her visit here from the coast. She was drinking of course too but that is daily so she blames it on the RM oysters. I won't eat regular oysters either yuck!

....they can talk about what we eat there and we will discuss what they eat here. Better yet they can start their own thread if they want to. Plenty of things here I won't eat either.

There is lots I have not or won't eat.

I was staying with a family on the coast one time and they were having frog legs and rice. Well I had rice w/butter melted on it and some salsa mixed in. Really good actually!
