Rainwolf, that male you're holding appears to be a black headed redbreasted male to me. It takes them quite long to morph into their final adult colouring compared to the other colours.

Well one thing that has helped me somewhat, is that I noticed that the sexually dimorphic calls they make starts really early. Even when they are still peeping, I noticed that when I have an adult make a call, and they all call back, the young ones frequently have the charecteristic male or female pattern to their call in return.
