Good Morning, I am with wolftracks.my eyes are so uncooperative, that I cannot tell if it is a dud egg or my bad eyesite.
So, pretty much I just wait and see what happens.
Going to seperate the girls today and I know they will not be happy about it.
I have three cuckoo marans hens.really nice girls. Two of them went broody last year and raised nice babies.
I want to put them with my 1/2 cuckoo marans 1/2 penedesenca roo.
He is a nice guy also and very pretty.
Wished I could figure out this darned photo thing....
Need my grandson to help me.
Also want to breed my Austrolorps to increase my laying hens.......
I like this breed a lot and they do well in my crappy weather.
And the French BBS Marans.......They seem to be my favorite...............They are so calm and dependable.
This is a little off topic, but fun for me to share.
My Marans went broody at the same time last year, had nests next to each other....
They would switch nests frequently.at hatch time......they shared responsibilties with the babies except at night.
When the sun started to go down, the chicks seemed to know who Mom was and slept with the hen that hatched them.
It was a kick to watch this.
Had this same situation with two easter eggers some years ago.........hatched together and shared raising the little ones.
We are all so truley blessed to have relationships with these little creatures.
