Everything seems to be going good with all my eggs/temp/humidity ect... I hate to hear of others having issues on there... i've had that happen to me on my first hatch and it sucked. out of several developing eggs only got a few babies out of it and they had bad legs

but we have those kinks worked out now! Worked on my second bator last night and have it up and running....

been kinda looking for some ducky eggs... my pond sure is lonely

I'll admit that I candled mine at 4 days. I do not usually candle till day 10 or 12 but I had these shipped in that new foam from fowlsrus(sp.?). I was curious as to how these would withstand shipping from Texas to Ohio with cold temperatures involved and I will say this, out of 12 eggs, 11 definitely were developing. The other one was questionable, but not a definite no! That egg was extremely dark colored and a little harder to see what was going on inside. I think I am gonna like this foam thing.

OOOOO, to add. I have been sitting around and wondering why my RSL's were not laying. I even went to the trouble of trying to figure out when they hatched since I bought them from TSC and could not remember when I bought them, and then I go home and turn the lights on in the barn and all the chickens get up and a HUGE brown egg goes rolling across the floor!!!

Still waiting on my eggs. They are officially in the mail and should be arriving today or early tomorrow. I keep getting set back farther and farther, but perhaps i'll get lucky and some of them will hatch early.

I still have my 16 Coturnix eggs that I'll be setting and now have 3 Sumatra eggs from my own pair.

I am excited too! This is my first time incubating and my poor husband has to hear all about how they are developing and stuff. I candled day 4 to make sure that they are working.. I just love it and my little one likes seeing it too. He can't wait for them to hatch. i dont know who is more excited, me or him!

10 of 12 developing nicely.

One looks clear, and odd. Almost like there are air bubbles in it? It has a calcium spot/lump on one end and I wasn't going to set it but thought 'Why not try it?' I'll pull it in the next day or two, don't want it to turn into an egg bomb.

The other is dark and porous but I'm pretty sure nothing is happening in there. Will leave it for a while to be sure.

An update on my shipped eggs...

One lot aren't coming right now. Emailed the lady who said her hubby was supposed to post them last Monday as she'd been sick... when she asked him he'd forgotten and they have been riding around in the back of his car for over a week.

She was extremely apologetic and offered my money back or replacement eggs when the girls have laid them. I told her I understand these things happen and I'll wait for the eggs.

On a better note... my others arrived safe and sound

I was expecting 8 Brahma and 6 Cochin and received 2 dozen eggs!

They are going in lunch time today.
So excited, it's my 3rd week running setting eggs! I'm a hatchaholic already!

Well I never should have wondered why things were running smooth here.

This morning I had dropped temps. At least they didn't bake, but darn it!

I so wish my girls would start laying.

I also wish I was able to put my new roo out with my Games. I can't wait to hatch some out. I've always loved how colorful the little roos are even as chicks.

It is day 7 for my local eggs so I candled them this evening. The 1 from the Ameraucana hen I got was clear as clear could be so I had to toss it. Really wanted that one to develope too.
4 I could not see very well on so I left them in. A couple of these are porous looking so I am not too hopeful for them.
3 looked to be developing nicely.

This Friday I will candle the shipped eggs as it will then be their 7 day mark.

Will be keeping an eye on the 4 that I am not too sure about as I do not want any stinkers or seepers lurking about. Figure I would just give them the ol' sniff test every so often to make sure there are no stinky stinky eggs.

Well I only had 3 eggs that would be EEs and one was clear. But hopefully I can still get an EE from the other 2.
