Chinese New Year Hatch/February 3 2011

Oh MY, Debi! And I thought my Betsy looked sad this week during her molt!!!

mine are all juveniles that are not doing any major molts.
My Silkies are almost done with their fugly phase from baby fuzz to juvenile fluff.

Ok, had my first go at candling last night so not really sure about the results. I just did a couple and i think one is a dud but the other 2 seemed to be developing ok. Fingers crossed. I didn't want to spend too long going through all 18 as the temp in the incubator drops with me opening it and closing it. The temp comes back quite quickly does it matter much? I might candle a few more tonight. The suspense is killing me.

Don't write off those porous ones, my CNY eggs are horribly porous and 10 of 12 are doing great and one is a maybe.

Remember broodies will get off the nest sometimes for half hour at a time to eat and drink, so don't worry about a candling session as long as it doesn't take forever for the temp to come back up.

Here's my little Japanese Rooster. He certainly can't compete with Debi's, and doesn't look too bad till you realize he is supposed to look like the second picture.
