Chip monks

I guess you can call Chip Monks, Gofers, thirteen line ground Squirrel depending where you live. They are very destructive they burrowed under my drive now it’s sinking, they are pretty smart and dam fast,one was in the chicken run the birds went nuts on it. I tried mouse traps no go, I got a couple of those glue boards for rats put a tad of feed in the middle and bam got it. They are alittle pricie, I like to here some thoughts from others with this rodent problem.

The good news is that chipmunks hibernate which can alleviate your problem for part of the year. The bad news is that with global warming, they are less likely to hibernate now.
There are about 25 species of chipmunks. About 30+ species of ground squirrels and gophers of which there are over 30 species are in a different family of rodents.

Mouse traps are too small, rat traps might work.
I had good luck with small live trap(6x6x12)....which then went into the pond.

I found using the glue boards for rats from Black Flag work the best I used the one for mice that little sucker dragged it all over the garage and got off but not before loosing his hair.

Also the sticky traps are also likely to catch something you would rather not catch. Like your dog or cat or one of your chickens.
Those little B@$t@£ds were in and out of my coop all day long removing big bulging mouthfulls of my chicken feed. I figured there must be at least 50 pounds of my feed in the rock pile. And Since they dont lay me any eggs, i declared war and sat with My 22 and took quite a few out.
My daughter who is 15 loves to sit in the yard and target practice. We only shot the ones around the coop.

We have one that’s getting in our coop, just noticed the opening... they seem to be absolutely everywhere?
Any tips on how to attract hawks??? Lol

I think the last thing most chicken owners want to do is attract more hawks.

Chipmunks, squirrels, mice and voles. They eat out of the chicken feeder next to my chickens and ducks without any trouble. I have 3 cats and they kill them from time to time, as well as lots of owls. (I wouldn't recommend attracting owls to your coop lol).

I find cats deal with them pretty well. I like the little rodents though. They're healthy and plump and not causing me any issue. They don't live near the coop, though, and aren't chewing their way through things which helps.

A Cat definitely will hunt them. My cat kills and eats Squirrels and mice steady. We had cute chipmunks up in the woodpile till she killed them too. My feed is in my Bird garage on the floor and zero infestation from vermin. That's were my cat lives is in my garage.

Cats are the number one vermin killer.
