I'm glad to hear of a good post office experience. The couple of times I have had chicks shipped, the mailman has gone above and beyond the call of duty, but some of the posts on here about uncaring mailmen are terrible!

Hi everyone-
Chicks are here, all alive and peeping their little hearts out! I will post some pics in a minute. The P.O. sent a loady to deliver them in her car, so they were nice and toasty. She was as excited as I was to open the box, came in and watched me put them in the brooder, dip their little beaks, etc. So nice of them!

Hey, can anyone help us figure out what colors the EEs are going to be? I need to choose 2 of the 4, and since we have such a small flock I would love to balance the colors! Here's the thread with pics I just posted: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=39487

The
box left Meyer hatchery in Ohio (it was a My Pet Chicken order) sometime after 2 pm yesterday, left the Cleveland airport at 9:30 pm, arrived Portland airport 7:48 am, the P.O. called me about 9:00. Pretty good! No pasty butts at all. The little warmer packet is still warm. They are all settling in nicely and I will be bringing the other family's chicks to them in a little while.

We got:
2 Welsummer
2 EE
1 RIR (but they added another RIR, so that makes 2 total)

Our friend got the same breeds plus an Australorp (which is very healthy, big and alert!) and a free chick which I believe is a SLW.

Peep! Peep! Peep!

Mind boggeling.

Mine left Meyers yesterday too. Were in Philly as I stated earlier at 7:30am this morning. Still no call from PO.

Chicks go from OH to ME faster than OH to PA. Now I am worried.

Seafood, I should mention that mine were send EXPRESS MAIL since it was a small order. They ship larger orders Priority, I believe, so it will take longer. How many did you order?

If mine were going Priority they wouldn't have been delivered by the PO employee, they'd go through 3 different sorting facilities before they called. So maybe that's what's happening with yours?

OK, here are some pics!!!

Here is the shipping box they arrived in, a small box with lots of straw, a still-warm heat pad, and grogel:

Isn't that the name of that bleu stuff they put in to nourish the chicks???? I may be wrong about that; I assumed that's what that blue gunk in the straw is. Anyone know?
