Chocolate/Dun Orpington Project?

Charlie and Jody,
IMO, they don`t HAVE to be dun, chocolate,Hersheys, Nestle Quik. if they breed true. looks like you got yourselves something special there, give it your own cool name and go with it.

Looks almost like my Maran hen (hatched from a black tailed buff maran egg).

The roo... He's got more of the buff coloring then the hen. She's more "brown" in the color...

Yup, they definitely don't need to be dun or choc for me to have fun with them. I just like the color and thought it was interesting, so figured I'd share to see if anyone has anything similar. So far, I don't see anything that shows the darker lacing on the chest like my birds, so if I can duplicate that or even get a solid brown bird like the rooster, it will be nice.

Hinkjc,
They look (red enhanced) wheaten to me too. Important is that the tail has no black. A wheaten hen does not show chocolate on the rest of the body.
Did you get any black breasted roosters along the way?

Henk, I was hoping you would provide input. Thanks so much for posting. I was leaning towards wheaton for a while on these as well, but we did not get any BBR color roos. All roos were shades of red, buff and brown. You can see the one pullet (with lacing) is pretty uniform in color, except her head. However the first pullet where her back is shown is dark brown on her back, but looks the same as the laced one on her chest. The cockerel is solid brown with some black. He is the only cockerel that closely resembled their underfluff and the brown of the pullet.

Jodie, that is how these magnificent colored orps get started! I absolutely love the dun and the chocolate. Please don't stop!!! I would love to have some dun orps. Really gorgeous! You are a pioneer in colors and you know what you are doing!

Thanks ozark! I'm still debating in my head if I really want to play with another color. But I do like the color of these babies.
