Hes a beauty. I've seen your website. I have a strain from my cousins in Kentucky, and they are pretty even but maybe not so richly hued. Semi-sweet chocolates you mights say.

I purchase hatching eggs occasionally trying to keep the stock fresh. I mostly don't need 15, and don't have space, so I seldom order chicks. We keep 3 females and two males every winter after "turkey harvest" for next years breeders. I add in about every two years.

I usually keep around 3-4 toms and 20- 25 hens.

Reason this chocolate tom is so rich is he hasn't faded out yet.
The bad thing with the brown gene is that it fades real bad when the birds are outside a lot.

I wondered about that slow fading. It does seem like they are evenly rich when they are still young. How sales of Chocolates going? I don't sale mine, we actually eat the extras, but I hope for you sales are well.

Its hard to come by pure chocolates as most are breed with lots of different breeds and not usually on purpose! So this spotted color variation could be a cross breeding hatch! Heres a pic of mine they are pure!
