i have a baby chook around 5-6 weeks old now, who we think is suffering from coccidiosis. we’ve been treating her and the other chooks with the right meds for a couple of days now because we saw blood in some of the poop, but it doesn’t seem to be working.
she’s still very lethargic and although there isn’t any blood in her poop anymore (as far as we can tell). she falls asleep very easily and often and also has a very hunched posture with droopy wings, which from what i can recall the vet saying is not a good sign at all. the others are displaying no symptoms, only her growth seems to be slowed.
we’re very worried as this is my littlest sister’s second ever chook, and it would be awful for her to lose her.
should we be supplementing her diet, or forcing her to drink? she doesn’t seem incredibly thirsty or hungry, but her growth does seem to be delayed a bit. we have seen her eating and drinking but not often.
(she is the brown barnelvelder, i have put in an image of our other yellow, healthy chook of the same age there for comparison. apologies for bad photos.)
