Before getting my own little "fertilizer factories", I used to buy composted chicken poo in bags. It had been composted with wood chips for 7 years and, let me tell you, I've never seen anything grow like it does in this stuff!! I live on a rocky hill, so I dig a hole for planting, fill it with the compost, then put in the plant. Roses love it! So does just about anything else. I have raised veggie beds and whiskey barrels which I filled with potting soil and the compost. Everything grows like mad! I'm planning on putting my saved chicken poo in the gardens to over-winter there, and then will work it into the soil in spring. I expect it will give "new life" to the gardens.
It's one of the many advantages to owning chickens. Enjoy!
