Chore Coat Challenge aka: Stuff your coat with your rooster

This reminds me of a story about the fabulous children’s book illustrator and homesteader Tasha Tudor, who had a beloved pet rooster named Chickahominy:

“When Chickahominy was very little, Tasha would put a small towel under him and tuck him into her dress, just above the waistline where it is tied. On one such occasion Tasha went grocery shopping, and at the checkout counter the clerk paused, looked around and said: “Do I hear a chicken?” Without a moment’s hesitation Tasha explained her hearing aid occasionally made such sounds, though it might be mentioned she never did wear one.”

Here is a link to Chickahominy’s whole (very sweet) story. And if you haven’t heard of Tasha Tudor, check out the rest of the website, which is dedicated to her.

Very logical then. My original plan was just layers for eggs, no roosters, no home hatched chicks... Then we ended up with a whoops rooster and the rest is history :lau
My history....

"I'm only getting one"

"Welllll, now I got another oops, so let's do 2 flocks"

"We need to hatch chicks"

"Let's get another variety, but of course we need a Rooster in that flock also"

" These little guys are adorable... Let's keep 1 or 12"

😶‍🌫️

This is King...he was getting worked up so I didn't want to stress him out taking too many pics. (He has an equilibrium issue and can't roost with his ladies any longer, so I think he freaks out when his feet come off the ground)

I would have way more roosters if I had room and no close neighbors, I love them and I've never had a bad one.
All my boys:
