In my house we end up doing both Hannukah and Christmas. It usually comes out very relaxed and everyone has fun, but this year I want to make it a little more special.
I have got five christmas trees in mah house And over five M-I-L-L-I-O-N lights on mah house.
Naw, not really, I haven't even decorated for Thanksgivin'.
You know every year during the Christmas Season that afterwards our light bill climbs up. Well when I call the electric company about it they say that its due to all of our Christmas lights.....well I tell tehm we have no lights up so how can that be? Then they come out and say that its because so many people have lights that they "SHARE" the expense with everyone. WHAT!!!!!
That's O.K. this year I am gonna have lights everywhere I can reach to hang them. Then maybe my electric bill won't be so high.
I've been thinking about Christmas gifts this year. I've decided that the little ones (nephews) will get cash. They get so many gifts from every one else that I don't even think they notice all the stuff anymore!
Everyone else (adults) are getting food or alcohol products. It just seems everyone has what they need. At least with food or wine, etc. you use it up and it doesn't take up space in your house. I've already made homemade vanilla extract as gifts and I'll have some more home made canning products from my garden and a good bottle of wine in a basket. Maybe some sweets like gourmet chocolates or homemade biscotti in the basket too. And IF I have enough (believe it or not) my fresh eggs are requested by everyone, so that would just be a dozen next to the basket too.
Another idea I had was to give 'New Year's Eve' baskets as Christmas gifts. Like fancy chocolates and stuff, but with a really good bottle of Champagne.
I just don't want to do the mall - clothes - "stuff" thing this year. My only DD will get what every 21 year old wants - cash. It's always been her favorite anyway
