Well as of today.....I have the towels for all but 3 people embroidered.....I have 12 gifts already boxed up, all I have to get for is my Dad, my DD's and hubby and I will be done...............................YEAH RIGHT!!!!!! I will find something else to get into.

Each year my daughters and I get together and make cookies, my sister comes in sometimes and helps, not sure about this year. But we are going to do the chocolate dipped pretzel rods, homemade chocolate chip cookies, molasses's cookies, peanut butter cookies, sugar coated pecans, peanut brittle, baked bread and jams will go into homemade baskets for family members this year.

I have found that a plan helps.....even if it seems to fail at times

O.K......like the title says.....It's a Countdown.

We have 72 days left until Christmas.....What are you doing to get ready?

I added all my bills up that must be paid by xmas, the weeks we have free spending, how much we are spending on everyone, and how much is left. Does that count?

we are not doing christmas this year. With all the bills and very little money there is not going to be a christmas here this year. oh well at least we are alive and I guess you could say that is a blessing. we not doing thanksgiving either we cant afford it so there is no thanksgiving dinner being prepaired here this year. also this will probably be my last post as I am no longer going to have internet. have to make cut backs either have the internet or buy food.

My boys are all older, now (my baby is 18) so it is sometimes easier to buy for them, and sometimes harder

My oldest is coming home for Thanksgiving, as I said, so his Christmas will be then. The middle child, I'm not sure if he's going to be able to come home at all - I'll have to mail his to him (his first Christmas not at home

) . And the baby is at home still - and always wants really expensive stuff

For instance - two years ago we bought him a new electric Hamer guitar - that was ALL he got that year

I am thinking for the middle son a gift card would be best and he can go and buy what he wants or put it with other money to buy what he wants. The oldest I'll probably do the same - I never know what he wants or needs. The youngest... not sure what to do for him.

My sister's family and my family stopped doing the gift exchange when we moved down here - it was too hard to do with us moved 500 miles away, and it is tight money times. Although, being sisters, she and I usually buy something small for each other

We just mail it to each other "not at Christmas" so we can explain it away

So that leaves my mom and stepdad for me to buy for - and I never know what to get them. If they want something, they go buy it. I usually do a gift certificate to Jackson Perkins for my mom and a gift certificate to Best Buy or some Hobby shop for my stepdad.

Those two are coming down at Thanksgiving with my oldest son, so we'll be having a holiday dinner then for Christmas and Thanksgiving both. It would be cool if my middle son could ride along (if he still has no job by then, he'll be free) so we could have everyone together for at least One holiday.

I hope my son has a job, however - not that I don't want to see him, just that I know that he doesn't want to have to move back down here and he is running out of his savings trying to find a job. The oldest works inside a college, so their breaks are his days off, also - and he took three extra days off so he could come down and spend a week.

I dont need to get ready for Christmas this year because the best gift the family can recieve will be my youngest son home from IRAQ for the holidays...he leaves IRAQ in 2 weeks and will have leave over Christmas and New Years and my birthday in Jan... keep counting down it makes Drew closer to home

I'm badgering my mom and sisters for photos so I can add them to the calendar I mentioned earlier in this thread. We live 800 miles from them, and photos usually only flow from me to them. My mom is sending them one at a time to me as I type this. I'll have to remind my sister about a dozen more times until she finally does this for me. But they love the albums and photo presents I give them, so it's worth the effort.
