Christmas hatch! Who's in?

Just checked mine last night and 12 of the 13 are growing. Only one showed no signs of growth. Nice to have 2 roosters in with the girls..........

Can`t wait to have 12 little Mille Fluers running around for Christmas.......

Candled mine last night, appears that 11 of the 13 are growing. I am going to leave the 2 in there that appear not be growing and recheck them in a couple of days.

I suppose I'll candle mine. I have a bunch set on the 4th, as well as a whole LG set for the New Year's Hatch with Mahonri. It's just another day for me, since I hatch incessantly!

I'll pipe in here when I know what's good.

Well we had a major snow storm lats night and lost the power for about 3 hours...... The incubator was only without power for about an hour before I fired up the generator, so I hope everyone in doing fine.

What the temp they can handel for that period of time??? I was telling myself......well the Hen has to get up and eat and drink so the temp will vary when being sat on.

What does everyone think

I once hit off on the power bar to turn eggs had company ran back out to visit and didn't turn it back on for 8 hrs...they all hatched right on time it was early spring so not that warm either....what I do now is wrap them in a blanket when it goes off I can always heat water on a camp stove to make hot water bottles we do have a generator have lost power for 3 days right at Christmas many years ago

Candled today (day 14 for me) Looks like all 3 BCM are quitters

For shipped eggs not too bad. Lock down in 4 days.

I loaded up a broody on the 4th with 7 eggs, candled them yesterday.
looks as if I only had 1 not fertile, although, I may have a quitter in there. not 100% sure (this is my 1st broody) so I left it with her.

I think I may have the dumbest broody ever... after about 5 or 6 days, she got up to do her eat/drink/poop thing, and went back to the wrong nest...
I caught it fast, the eggs were still warm, but of course I freaked out a little

I'm keeping the eggs in the incubator to hatch because I can not get the thermostat in my new DYI hatcher to stabilize.

Oh well,

that just means I will have to start more eggs so I can use my hatcher.

Looks like I will head into lockdown tomorrow with 25 eggs. I have one left thats iffy- just cant tell what its doing. Its either going to explode, or hatch. Most of the eggs are completely full- I wouldnt be surprised if I get a few early pips... but then again, I always think that's going to happen, and it never does! Tomorrow I'm locking down with 5 Dutch bantam eggs, 9, (maybe 8) Crele Wyandotte bantams ( 1 of those is iffy), 8 frizzle cochin bantams, and 3 Buff Orpingtons that are 1 day behind and are due to hatch Xmas Eve. I've never locked down with this many eggs! I only had to discard 4 out of 21 shipped eggs. I really didnt think I'd have this many shipped eggs all the way to lock down! Oy! Wether or not they all hatch- is another question... hopefully, with some luck, we will at least have a chick or two! ...or twenty five? Yikes!

Hope everyone is having an absolutely wonderful holiday...and getting to spend time with family and friends...and maybe even able to share this little hatch with some of them. I know this is a very special time to share with my children... the anticipation of Santa, and the hum of the incubator full of new little lives getting ready to make their grand entrance into the world. Merry Christmas to everyone! The countdown has begun! YAY!!!!

Is everyone ready???
