Got my first batch ever into lock down today. I started with 46 - 12 Australorps, 12 RIR, 12 Jersey Giants, and 10 mystery eggs. After the first candling, I was down seven for various reasons. After candling today, I only lost three more. The rest all seem okay. I'm at 12 Australorps, 10 RIR, 10 Jersey Giants and 4 mystery eggs. It was really neat candling the eggs at this point. I could see the hearts beating quite clearly on a few of them. Here's hoping to not losing (m)any between now and the weekend.

First chick this afternoon! This is day 20 for the eggs. I have a feeling that this will drag out a bit.

In lockdown w/ duck eggs. Crossing fingers that I and everyone else have great hatch rate

Think I have a few grey hairs now..I'll probably be half grey by the end of the next 4 days

What do use to candle? Type of flaslight?, etc.

I kept it simple. I used an LED Maglite and my hand.​

In lockdown as of 9 pm tonight (Dec. 21)

Started with 16 shipped eggs from Simplysplendedsilkies...day 10 one had a bloodring, soooo 15 Blue and Splash Silkie eggs made it to lockdown.
Added two eggs from my silkie/ showgirls.....day 10 one was clear, soooo one of my own....could be white Silkie or Showgirl.

So that's

16 eggs in lockdown.
