Christmas in October block Swap

It really does have a nice atmosphere! Very bright and cheerful! It was just beautiful! It is a lot like this quilt shop I'm going to. They didn't have the tea and coffee, but I read where they do offer it sometimes.

OHhappychicks I think you have got the best of all outcomes on your machine purchase, you get to know your machine while experts are right there to help you.
You get to meet other area quilters, and new ideas all the time, what could be better?

I totally agree, RustyHen! It has been a blessing!

I'm off today to babysit my 4 month old grandson for the first time! They live about 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 hrs away, so I don't get to see him too often. He isn't used to me yet, so I'm praying for a good bonding day!

I know it is a little early to be planning a new block swap but for those of us that did the disappearing 9 patch and really liked it and those that didn't have a chance to get in on that swap, here is one but it is the disappearing pinwheel, again we would not cut the block just send the pinwheel and the receiver would cut their blocks. So this could be a maybe.

I do love that! It looks easy and fun! I'm up for it! I loved the fabrics! I would like to do vintage fabric on a quilt sometime. Do any of the good fabric lines carry vintage? I will go check it out. Lots to do today. Grocery shopping, a wedding this afternoon, would like to go see my grandson play his all-star baseball game, but not sure whether to go to it or wedding. It is my Dh great niece. I also am taking laptop to someone today to transfer data from old one to new one. I don't know how long he will have it. Hopefully by this evening, but I don't know. Talk later!

yes you can get vintage fabrics, I know MSQ, (missouri star quilt company https://www.missouriquiltco.com) carries civil war era reproductions. So what did we decide wedding or ballgame?

Disappearing pinwheels.
Oh, I like this. We'd have to cut our own 10" blocks and agree the 'background'. I vote for white on white. I also like the lovely fresh modern fabrics on the video. I think we'd have to encourage as many people as possible to join in or do doubles or trebles to make a good sized quilt. The final blocks( or rectangles

) will be less than 10 inches. I'm sure we will overcome all challenges. I'm quite enthusiastic about this one.

I have made a few disappearing pinwheel blocks

This one I had to make 12.5 but didn't have a wide enough staring piece, so I added a blue outer border before cutting, then putzed w/ the layout until I came up w/ this.

These two I had a similar problem, they were for swaps and couldn't get a big enough starting pinwheel to finish at 12.5 so I undersized on purpose and added an extra churn dash border

Then just to see if I could

"how small can you gooooo?????"
